Lindsey R. Neas

Chief of Staff

Lindsey R. Neas joined the Commission as chief of staff in April 2009 and brings a deep understanding of defense policy and the legislative process.  For 14 years, he served as a military legislative assistant for members of the Senate and House Armed Services Committees, including Senator Jim Talent, Senator Elizabeth Dole and Congressman Todd Akin.

Of particular note, Mr. Neas focused on several Navy and Air Force tactical fighter programs, Air Force strategic airlift capabilities, military readiness, the adequacy of the defense budget, the defense industrial base, force structure and end-strength issues, POW/MIA issues, and military health care programs.  In addition, his work addressed research and development issues such as hypersonic propulsion and laser-based military photo medicine.

Prior to working on Capitol Hill, Mr. Neas served as an armor officer in the Army for five years from 1987 to 1992.  He was commissioned through Army Officer Candidate School.

Mr. Neas earned his B.A. in Political Science from Grinnell College in Grinnell, Iowa, in 1986.  He received his M.P.P.A. (Master’s in Public Policy Administration) from the University of Missouri–St. Louis, in 1994.
